The Royal Dutch Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB) is honoured by the Dutch Olympic Committee (NOC) during the Annual Congress of NOC last Tuesday with the "NOC van Tuyll-Memorial".
Every year this "NOC van Tuyll-Memorial" is given by the Board of NOC, since 1921, to the Association with the best sportresults in the past year. For the KNBSB were these results in 2007:
Baseball: qualification for the Olympics 2008, European Champion (in Spain), fourth place at the World Championships (for the second time) in Taiwan,
Softball Women: qualification for the Olympics 2008 (in Italy), second place at the European Championship (Amsterdam).
Specially mentioned was the progression for Softball in the Netherlands. For the first time the Juniors had the result of the seventh place in the World Junior Championship. This event was well organized in Enschede (Holland).
KNBSB President Ruud van Zetten was pleasant surprised by this memorial of the Dutch Olympic Committee. By his words of thanks he told the Congress and Board of NOC that both teams (baseball and softball) will try all their best for a good result in Beijing and hopefully the teams will surprise everyone and maybe can play for one of the medals.
