Croatia wins B-Level European Championship in Karlovac

Croatia has won the B-Level European Championship in Karlovac. In the championship game on Saturday Croatia defeated Slovakia 6-4 to win the Qualifier for the 2016 European Championship. Croatia finished in 12th place in last year’s Euros and got relegated to the B-Level.

Slovakia had the better start into the final and took a 2-0 lead midway through the third. Alexander Valclavik hit a solo home run in the first and added a sac fly in the third. However Croatia answered in a big way, scoring four runs in the bottom of the third. Mario Manojlov and Andrija Tomic extended the lead to 6-1 with a solo home run in the fourth and a RBI single in the seventh. Jarsolav Sitar went deep to kick of the eighth, initiating a rally by Slovakia. However only one more run scored as Croatia sealed the victory.

Andrija Tomic got awarded as Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Dmytro Limarenko of the Ukraine was named best pitcher, his teammate Dmytro Nelipa best batter.
