Since 1991 Russia has competed in nine European Championships at the senior level. They picked up their best finish ever in federation history in 2001 in Bonn, Cologne and Solingen, Germany, when they surprisingly reached the Gold Medal Game, where they only lost to the Netherlands. Silver in 2001 is their only medal in European Championship history.
At the 2014 European Championship Russia picked up just one win. But thanks to the 14-1 lopsided win over Greece they managed to beat out Greece and Croatia in a three-way tie in Pool B to advance to the game for seventh place. After a 2-12 loss they ended up in eighth place in the final standings.
While Russia is missing a European title at the senior level they have been successful in European Baseball at various levels. They won European Championships B-Pool in 2011 and 2013. Their U12 National Team has won three European Championships since 2010. At the club stage various Russian teams have accomplished titles at B-Level European Cups in the past few years.
At the 2016 European Championship Russia is placed into Group A during the first round, facing host and defending champion Netherlands, Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain and Sweden. The top three teams of each first-round pool advances to the Super Round Robin, which then determines the finalists of the medal games.
