Except for the 1979 and 1981 European Championships Spain has been a participant at each edition. They are not simply participating, but they are also pretty successful with one championship (1955), one silver medal (1954) and 14 bronze medals.
They are currently on a run of five third place finishes in the last six European Championships. In between they also became the third team from Europe to qualify for the World Baseball Classic (2013).
At the 2014 European Championship in Regensburg and Czech Republic Spain dominated the first round by defeating Greece, Croatia, Russia and Czech Republic by a combined score of 54-7. They reached the Super Round Robin in second seed after a 7-19 loss against the Netherlands. In the final round they beat Germany 4-3 and France 10-5 to clinch third place in the final standings. A 4-6 loss to Italy had erased the hopes for a final participation.
