Qualifier European Championship Cadets U15: Final Day, July 26

Poland and Austria are qualified for the 2015 European Championship Cadets U15. Both teams reached the final at the Qualifier in Bratislava, Slovakia this past week and will be promoted to the A-Pool. Poland won the tournament, defeating Austria 9-6 in the championship game on Saturday. France finished in third place ahead of host Slovakia. Switzerland, Slovenia, Hungary and Serbia came in behind.

Poland had defeated France 9-5 in the semi-final on Friday. Five runs in the second put them en route to the final. Austria cruised by Slovakia 11-1. Four runs in the first decided things early. Six runs between the fourth and the sixth blew the score wide open. In the final Austria took leads of 4-0 and 5-4, but Poland answered both times right away and tied the contest. Four runs in the top of the sixth broke the tie and made the difference in the 9-6 affair.

Both finalists didn’t have any say in the individual awards. Mathis Lescure (France) got named Best Batter, Yoan Antonac Best Pitcher (France). Bransilav Bukva (Slovakia) got Most Valuable Player honors.
