The Netherlands win the first ever WBSC Europe Super 6

The inauguration tournament of the WBSC Europe, the joint confederation of baseball and softball in Europe, goes to the Kingdom of the Netherlands!

After 5 days, the ranking had the Dutch on top, followed by Italy and Spain. Due to the bad wheater conditions, the last round-robin game between Belgium and the Netherlands could not be played.

Due to the head-to-head matchup with Spain and Italy, the Dutch were still unbeaten, carrying a 4-0 record into the final day of the Super 6 Baseball and Softball Tournament. Eventually, the final game, that would have featured Italy and the Netherlands, could not be played because of the ongoing rain at the ETO ballpark in Hoofdorp. Therfore the host of this great event was crowned champion of the WBSC Europe Super 6 Baseball tournament.

Players of the first three teams also received the individual awards for their performance on the field. While Chris Colabello (ITA) hit his way to win the best hitter award, Daniel Alvarez (ESP) was honored as the best pitcher in the tournament. The award for the Most Valuable Player goes to Sicnarf Loopstock.
