During his visit, Executive Director Schmidt shared his
experience from stadium projects in other EU countries, and how these projects
helped to boost economic activity in the cities where the stadiums were built.
Currently there are no baseball fields or stadiums in the whole country of
Lithuania, which is one of the major hurdles to growing participation in and
popularity of the sport. Both Kaunas and Vilnius City Officials showed interest
and initiative in finding creative ways to support the baseball community and
achieve the goal of building a baseball stadium in each city.
